This collection is inspired by climate change and the resulting extremes of weather conditions. The amulets are also reminiscent of jewellery pieces worn during cultural rituals as protection. The main pieces have solar cell technology implemented through the use of Swarovski crystals on the surface. Other pieces are inspired by different areas of science such as genetics and biology.
Floating Shoes Necklace
The shoes are worn from the neck and are intended to float on the water’s surface during a flood. The sole of the shoe also illuminates in contact with water to guide you and help you find your way.
Pouch
Protect precious seeds in the pouch to cultivate and protect the land. The silver crochet allows the plant to grow through the pouch and on contact with earth the pouch opens and lights up. In the night moths are attracted to the pouch to spread the seeds and pollinate.
Raindance Shawl
Collect dew drops at sunrise by hanging up the shawl. Its tiny embellishments and delicate embroidery will trap water. At night the shawl can be worn to perform a dance to call in the rain. The instructions for the ritual are part of the design of the piece, with the footsteps being part of the embroidery and crystal embellishments marking the music notes to sing along. This piece illuminates with the rotating movements whilst dancing.
Bread Necklace
Inspired by the lost trail of breadcrumbs from the tale of Hansel and Gretel, by adding seeds and crystals to the bread in this necklace, a small plant will grow from every broken piece, leaving a trail for others to find you. The plant will contain the genes of the person missing.
Cuffs of Matches
The cuffs light up when holding hands with another person. The matches also spark against the sandpaper embellishments to create fire and celebrate a reunion. You are left with a burnt match that represents your new friendship, made with a black Swarovski crystal.
Lavender Pillow Ring/ Bracelet
You can rest your head on the Lavender Pillow Ring and Bracelet to aid a calm and restful sleep in times of distress and anxeity. The pillows have lavender micro-encapsulated into the fabric.
Tea Bag Brooch
Herbal remedies to improve your health and wellbeing by reinforcing your immune system, calming and relaxing or to improve your circulatory system, keeping you warm. The tea bags also dipped in silver wich acts as an antibacterial to purify the water.
